Unlike traditional ribbon designs that wither and die when exposed to phantom power, the Sigma 2 actually requires it, using the voltage to power its specially designed capsule and custom-wound transformer to deliver a rich, robust sound for both studio recordings and live performances.
The single ribbon capsule offers a figure-of-eight polar pattern that picks up sound from both sides of the mic, allowing it to capture both the primary sound source and additional room tone. The sensitive capsule requires less gain from your preamp, allowing you to record with less noise. The microphone can handle maximum SPLs of 125 dB. A sophisticated shockmount is included that effectively isolates the mic from vibrations and handling noise. An ABS flight case for transport and storage is also supplied.
